One of the best things about a direct-fit parcel shelf is that fitting it is genuinely simple — no tools, no garage visit, and normally no more than a couple of minutes. Here's the general process, though always check the fitting notes on your specific product page, as clip positions can vary slightly by model.
1. Clear the boot
Remove anything sitting in the boot so you've got a clear view of the parcel shelf mounting points, usually a ledge or set of clips on either side, just below the rear windscreen.
2. Remove the old shelf, if there is one
Most shelves simply lift up and out, or unclip from short support cords. If yours is already missing, skip to the next step.
3. Check the orientation
Most parcel shelves have a clear front and back, and sometimes a top and bottom side — check your product listing photos to confirm which way round it should sit before fitting.
4. Line up the edges
Angle the shelf slightly and guide the rear edge into position first, against the parcel shelf ledge or clips nearest the back window, then lower the front edge down onto its ledge or into its retaining points.
5. Press down to seat it
Apply gentle, even pressure along the edges until it clips or seats fully into place. It shouldn't need force — if it's not sitting flush, double-check the orientation and that you've got the correct model for your car.
6. Give it a wobble test
A properly fitted shelf shouldn't rock, rattle, or lift easily. If it feels loose, recheck each mounting point before you close the boot.
If you're not sure your new shelf is the right fit, check the make, model, and years on the product page against your car before fitting — and if anything doesn't look right, get in touch before forcing it into place.
